Zsanett E., the young woman who claimed she was raped by five policemen in Budapest in May 2007, is thought to have disappeared after the charges against the men were dropped and a new investigation began against her for false testimony.

In the last two months, her usual acquaintances have not seen Zsanett around anymore, according to Stop.hu and a neighbour told the news portal that she has not been home lately. Many of her friends used to visit her while she lived at home, but this is no longer the case, she added. According to a young man, her favourite place was a cafe in the nearby Duna Plaza.

According to the information gathered by stop.hu, Zsanett had plenty of free time during the trial and spent most of it in the shopping mall. The fact that nobody has seen her there in the last two months, and she has not been visiting even her parents lately, supports the possibility that she has fled. If she has left the country, as some people suspect, the police may seek an international warrant for her arrest.
