Zoo welcomes camel baby born in southern Hungary
A healthy, baby camel was born at Szeged Zoo in southern Hungary this week, reports hirado.hu.
"Lili the camel mare of Szeged Zoo gave birth to her baby girl Góbi without any complications at noon Wednesday," said Róbert Veprik, the zoo's director, who assisted in the birth.
Veprik said Góbi was the first camel to ever be born in Szeged. She weighed about 20 kilograms.
The birth and the heat apparently exhausted mother Lili. She rested in the shade with her new offspring, which she has apparently accepted. Zoo workers took care of the mother and child, fanning them with a tree branch.
The Szeged camels are two-humped camels from Asia.
