Twelve German and Soviet grenades and shells were unearthed during renovation works on the ice-skating rink in Budapest's City Park, the Defence Ministry told MTI on Monday.

Experts temporarily closed down the immediate vicinity of the City Park and the tourist attraction Heroes Square to remove or neutralise the ammunitions, which had laid buried under the facility since WWII.

Several explosive devices were also found at the site last week.
