Wizz Air to begin Prague operations next month
Partly Hungarian-owned low cost airline Wizz Air has announced plans to operate flights out of Prague from February 19. Wizz Air planes will link the Czech capital to Rome, Milan, Bergamo, Paris Beauvais, Brussels Charleroi, Eindhoven and Luton. Some tickets will be sold for €9.99 in the introductory campaign.
Entering Prague is a logical step in the expansion of Wizz Air and is well-timed, said CEO József Váradi. His company aims to be the leading low cost airline in the Czech market within a few years, he added.
Wizz Air carried 5.9 million passengers in 2008, a 41% year-on-year rise. It operates 30 Airbus 320 aircraft from bases in Katowice, Warsaw, Gdansk, Posnan, Budapest, Sofia, Bucharest and Kiev.
