Truck traffic cracks walls in southern Hungary
In the suburban area of Hódmezővásárhely, more than a hundred trucks pass through per day on their way to Makó, shaking the houses and even making the tiles fall, writes hirtv.hu.
Since Romania joined EU, and since trucks are charged with extra fees for using the main road between Szeged and Makó, they bypass it instead, taking the route around Hódmezővásárhely.
The local government has submitted plans for a by-pass road to the south to alleviate the traffic.
