Three detained in morbid kidnapping plot
Three people forced a man to dig a grave for himself and write an IOU for five times the sum he had owed to one of them on the bank of the Danube at Paks last Wednesday, Tolna county police told reporters.
Police on patrol found a man walking outside a bar covered in mud up to his neck and hardly able to speak in Dunaszentgyörgy last Wednesday. He told police that his subcontractor had lured him from his home at 4 p.m. that afternoon to take a look at a joint project.
Two others joined them, one of whom pulled a sack on his head.
Then they drove him to the Danube where they forced him to dig a grave and sign a declaration that he owed the sub-contractor Ft 5.5 million instead of the actual Ft 900,000. He had already paid Ft 1.1 million to the subcontractor in instalments.
The assailants took their victim's mobile phone and shoes and drove off. Police caught the subcontractor the next day and he gave them the names of his accomplices, who were arrested.
