Thousands demand resignation of PM in front of Parliament
Around 5,000 people demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány in front of Parliament last night after a speech by him was leaked in which he admits lying to the public to win the elections in April, hirszerzo.hu writes.
This morning at eight, around 100 demonstrators were still on Kossuth tér, waving Hungarian flags and protesting for the removal of the prime minister. By ten o'clock, their number had grown to several hundred, hirado.hu reports. They said they would not leave until the government resigns. Some said they were expecting others to join them, including busloads of people from other cities.
Several demonstrators said that they believe they can achieve their goal if they continue to protest. Most of them said the protest rally was spontaneous, and no organization was leading it.
