Tainted food warehouse discovered near Budapest
Food inspectors hit upon large quantities of adulterated food items with expired warranties in a Törökbálint warehouse belonging to a foreign-owned company on Tuesday.
György Virsinger, head of the Pest County food inspection authority, told reporters that police are assisting in the investigation. So far it has been ascertained that various brands of jam, chocolate, ham and meat-filled pasta with expired warranty had been re-dated and repackaged for further sale.
The company in question is jointly owned by one Austrian, one Israeli, one Ukrainian and a Hungarian.
