The Forrás Szálló hotel in Szeged closed last week on September 15, preparing for its transformation into a four-star hotel by June 2009, reports delmagyar.hu.

The hotel, opened 20 years ago, will undergo a complete renovation. The final events held at the hotel were a conference, a wedding and a school meeting during it's final weekend before temporarily closing. The renovations, costing nearly Ft 1.5 billion (€6,238,488), will begin in October, leaving only the walls intact.

Instead of the current 177 rooms, 195 will wait guests, along with 35 apartments of which three will be luxury apartments. There will be 160 two-bed rooms of which 50 can be opened together for families. Conference rooms for 450, 150 and 50 people will be found at the hotel after renovations, as well as a spa. All of he 82 employees will stay, and they will be working in other establishments until the reopening next year.
