Zhao Fei, the Chinese man suspected of murdering a Norwegian woman in Budapest on August 27, has surrendered to police in Beijing.

As there is no extradition treaty between Hungary and China, the suspect will be tried in his native country, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhang Ju confirmed. He added that Chinese authorities are co-operating with Hungarian authorities.

Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet reported on Thursday that the 26-year-old suspect had confessed to the murder.

His 21-year-old victim was found stabbed to death in a Seventh District hostel. Both suspect and victim had been studying in Hungary.
