Survey finds 90% of Budapest residents see city stagnating
As many as nine out of 10 resident of Budapest think that the quality of life in their city has not improved for five years, according to a study conducted by Szonda Ipsos. The respondents to the poll listed problems related to transport, parking and public hygiene as the main reasons for their dissatisfaction.
Respondents said that transport infrastructure does not reach even the "level that can be expected." They also said that problems related to parking and public hygiene were "critical."
The survey found that most Budapesters think that the city has much to offer from a "human point of view," and believe that the cultural offerings raise the quality of life. But researchers say that as long as the capital's residents consider themselves to be locked in battle with fundamental problems on a daily basis, the overall quality of life will not be perceived as progressing satisfactorily.
