Strike talks deadlocked at Budapest airport
No agreement was reached in Monday talks between striking unions and the management of Budapest Airport at Ferihegy.
The union's strike committee told Magyar Hírlap that it is doubtful whether it makes sense to continue the negotiations, as the management representatives were not aware of the most basic details and were visibly embarrassed by all questions about specifics. The unions demanded that Greek strike-breaking “mercenaries” be sent home as soon as possible.
Budapest Airport said it had presented a new draft for shifts to the unions, as it is necessary for the airport to flexibly adjust to market and traffic requirements. The company envisages eight-hour shifts in the future, with all employees to be informed of their shifts six months in advance, and with an exact schedule four weeks in advance, so that they can plan their life and leisure time.
Negotiations are expected to continue today.
