Street drinking banned in Mosonmagyaróvár
Drinking on the streets will be prohibited in Mosonmagyaróvár (Győr-Moson-Sopron County) from 1 November. Local authority wants to end the noisy, destructive and overbearing behaviour of drunken youths, writes index.hu.
Transgressing this order results in a punishment up to Ft 50.000 (€200). The local authority hopes that this will end vandalism of drunken youths occurring increasingly frequently, especially on weekends. The exceptions from the ban are the open-air terraces of restaurants and taverns, outdoor programs organized with permission, as well as New Year's Eve.
Drinking on the streets has already been prohibited in some Hungarian cities, such as in Mezőkövesd, Dabas, Gyomaendrőd and Szekszárd.
