Stolen bust of former Hungarian PM found on street
The bust of Hungary's first democratically elected prime minister was found lying in front of a house in Budapest's District XXI, reports blikk.hu.
József Antall's bronze bust disappeared last weekend. It was discovered on Ady Endre utca by a passerby who reported it to the Budapest police.
Antall led the Hungarian Democratic Forum from 1989 to 1993. He became prime minister in 1990 and served in that position until his death from cancer on Dec. 12, 1993. He was 61.
Police cordoned off the area and launched an investigation before concluding the bust was indeed authentic.
The disappearance of the bust was reported last Saturday morning by a parish priest who lives in the neighboring temple. Police continue to investigate the theft.
