Forty-one of the 43 cows that participated in the first Budapest "Cow Parade" were auctioned off Thursday night at the Palace of Arts, writes index.hu. The total income from the evening was Ft 19,540,000 (€75,000), half of which was given to charity.

The event was attended by numerous actors, musicians, and TV personalities. The starting price of the cows was Ft 200,000 (€767). The record bid was Ft 1.7 million (€6,525) for the "Cow with Symbols" (Tehén szimbólumokkal) by István Zámbó.

Half of the income from the auction, nearly Ft 10 million, was donated to the foundations Mosolyország and Bátor Tábor.

According to the organizers, in retrospect, the first Hungarian "Cow Parade" was overall a success, despite the fact that several sculptures were damaged and vandalized.
