State privatisation agency begins talks on the sale of Malév
The privatisation agency ÁPV has initiated talks on the sale of state airline Malév with Hungarian-Russian consortium AirBridge.
The company, controlled by Russian businessman Boris Abramovich, is one of three contenders to buy a 99.5% stake in Malév. AirBridge, which made the highest bid in the previous tender, sees Ferihegy as a springboard for its move into Western Europe but would also promise new Russian markets.
"We would invest $30-50 million in the carrier from the start," Abramovich told reporters, without elaborating on his offer for the loss-making airline.
