Socialist MEP opens LGBT festival in Budapest
Exclusion also hurts the majority of people, Socialist MEP Katalin Lévai said as she opened a gay and lesbian festival in Budapest Wednesday evening. The festival continues through Sunday evening.
Free Democrat leader Gábor Fodor also attended the opening, Magyar Nemzet reports.
Part of the festival is Saturday's Gay Pride march along Andrássy út in Budapest. A police escort will be provided due to warnings of hostile action from far right groups.
The annual parade will proceed from Erzsébet tér via Andrássy út to 56-osok tere. Three hours later, the Regime-Changing Forum will march along the same route.
Simultaneously with the gay parade, an individual is organising a procession on the service lane of Andrássy út between Oktogon and Heroes Square. Finally, the right-wing National Committee 2006 will stage a demonstration on Liszt Ferenc tér.
