Smoking patients cause two fires at Hungarian hospitals
A patient smoking a cigarette in bed was the apparent cause of a fire at the Erzsébet hospital in the Seventh District Saturday morning. The patient in question suffered critical burn injuries and was taken to the István hospital, where he was put on a respirator. Fire-fighters put out the blaze in a few minutes, as 28 people were evacuated from the endangered wing of the hospital.
Fire-fighters were also alerted to a hospital in Dunaújváros but nurses had put out the flames by the time they arrived. The fire was presumably started by a patient smoking in the psychiatric ward. No one was injured.
