Slow recovery for hostage shot in Budapest bank robbery
The two individuals shot during Friday's hostage drama on Budapest's Széna Square are expected to fully recover, but one will likely face a long recovery, reports index.hu.
According to Zoltán Detre, the physician of the unidentified woman, the use of high-velocity bullets means she is still facing several operations, and a recovery time of up to a year and a half. The man who was injured, however, will likely leave the hospital next Monday.
"The bank has launched an inquiry into the incident, concerning the safety regulations and adherence to them," said Antal Pongrácz, an executive of OTP, adding that the bank will extend help to the victims of the robbery.
The gunman was killed at the scene of the crime, which is said to be the first bank robbery in Hungary in which hostages were taken.
