Secessionist hotel in South Hungary to undergo renovations
The Petőfi szálló in Szentes, built in 1898 in the secessionist style, will undergo renovations, and become a five-star hotel again, writes Délmagyar.hu.
The Pendola real estate group, which invested billions of forints into the renewal, allowed locals to visit the building for the last time on November 28, before beginning construction works. As the building was last renovated in 1964, it looked pitiful with worn furniture among the plaster falling from the walls.
Pendola owner Árpád Zsohár reported that the building complex will be closed between December 4 and 7, while the cafeteria will stay open until February or March, and the theater hall will be open until the end of May. The renovations will probably be completed in late 2011.
