Fidesz and Christian Democrat candidate for First District council György Molnár struck rival candidate Mónika Árendás with a windscreen wiper on Thursday, piercing her eardrum. Árendás, of the local patriots party, was collecting nomination sheets at the time.

The incident erupted after Árendás, a nurse, complained that Molnár could have been instrumental in her recent transfer. Molnár is now on holiday and refuses to make a statement until he returns. Fidesz will withdraw his candidacy if the charges are proven.
