Reports of drunken demonstrators harassing journalists

Drunken organisers of the 24-hour demonstration in Kossuth tér pushed a photographer out of the square on Saturday night, claiming that he had no permit to be there. The organisers threatened another journalist as he tried to prevent others from beating a man who had damaged the door to a public WC.

On Sunday, organizers ordered "greater strictness" and asked demonstrators to show respect for journalists. They also announced that they will seek police help to stop the sale of illicit alcohol in the square.

The ongoing demonstration in the square, organised by the Hungarian National Commission 2006, is now unable to attract more than a few hundred people.
