Regular rail service resumes in Hungary
Regular service resumed on Hungary's railway network early Tuesday morning after a one-day strike, reports MTI.
There are no delays or cancelled services, and international trains are arriving and departing as well, said Imre Kavalecz, press chief of the railway company. Some delays can be expected on international routes on Tuesday.
Talks continue between the Free Trade Union of Railway Workers (VDSZSZ) and MÁV today. After Monday's strike was suspended, VDSZSZ Chairman István Gaskó said the trade union insists on a 10% "outsourcing benefit" at subsidiary companies which they would like to see distributed over three years. They also insist that each railway worker receive Ft 250,000 (over €1,000) from the privatization revenue of MÁV Cargo, as former Transport Minister János Kóka promised this in 2005.
For its part, MÁV insists on its original opinion that the trade union's demands are unrealistic and there are no funds to cover them.
