Poultry processor denies mincing live animals
Poultry processor ATEV in Hódmezővásárhely minced living animals, south Hungarian daily Délmagyarország alleges. ATEV is denying the charges made by Free Democrat MP, Péter Gusztos, who reported the case to the police after suspecting cruelty to animals.
Under the law, slaughter of poultry is restricted to breaking the neck or beheading. ATEV issued a statement saying: "According to procedure, six ducks survived on June 14 and seven geese on June 25 during the cull ordered due to bird flu. These animals were separated and the veterinarian administered a lethal injection."
