Population, number of marriages continue to decrease
According to a review published by Hungary's Central Statistical Office (KSH), the rate of population decrease between January and November 2007 exceeded that for the same period in 2006, reports hirszerzo.hu.
In the first eleven months of 2007, 89,316 children were born, 2,538 less than in the same period in the previous year. In the meantime, 120,726 people died, 700 more than between January and November 2006.
Between January and November 2006, the natural decrease in population 28,174, while this figure in 2007 was 31,410.
The number of marriages decreased by 9 percent. The 38,464 marriage contracts signed last year is 3,770 less than in 2006. The total population at the end of the given period was 10,051,000.
