Poll shows Hungarians slightly more healthy
Hungarians do not tend to watch what they eat or exercise, with the vast majority overweight or obese, a poll found.
Hungarians also take more medication and drink more alcohol than seven years ago, although they smoke less, feel better and have improved general health compared to when earlier surveys were made.
Central Statistics Office deputy head of department Károly Tokaji outlined the results in Népszabadság on Tuesday.
Some 58.9% of men said their health has improved, while half of the female population considered their own state of health very good. Patients trust family doctors most and hospital health care least. Only one in three Hungarians visited a dentist last year.
The poll questioned 7,000 people over 15 in 449 communities on their health, illnesses and doctor visiting habits last autumn.
