Public voting for the Online Merchant of the Year closed on 21 October, with more than 28,000 votes. Of nearly 800 nominated online stores, the following made into the top ten: Bookline.hu, Cherryon.hu, Depo.hu, Edigital.hu, Netpincér.hu, Ppo.hu, Surányihifi.hu, Teszvesz.hu, Topsport.hu and Vatera.hu.

For some of the stores, this is not the first time they have reached the finals: Edigital, Surányihifi, Netpincér and Vatera were all present in the top ten last year. Some of the stores sell their own products, while others act as marketplaces mediating products by different companies. For example, Netpincér takes online orders on behalf of restaurants and Depo markets electronic products. The two most popular eBay-style marketplaces were Teszvesz and last year's winner Vatera.

Now that the public vote is closed, a panel of expert judges will choose the winner from the top ten merchants. Their decision will be based on the business models, business results, quality and user-friendliness of the websites, and the consumer protection and the reputation of the stores. The title Online Merchant of the Year can be used for the fullyear, and the top prize is an online campaign. The supporters of the award are [origo], Index, Portfolio.hu, Google and eBroker.
