Poll finds Hungarian doctors oppose health reforms

Only six of 543 physicians interviewed by pollsters Medián completely agreed with the government's health reforms, Népszabadság reports today. However one-third of them generally support the reform efforts. Liberal health politician Péter Mihályi said in response that the reaction is natural as doctors all over the world generally resist major reforms affecting their profession.

Of the physicians polled, 60% of the decided party voters support Fidesz, 15% the Socialist Party, 10% the Democratic Forum, 8% the Free Democrats, 3% the Christian Democrats, 2% the Hungarian Justice and Life Party, 1% Jobbik and 1% other parties.

Some 42% say "gratitude money" is unjust but should be accepted; 33% said it is unfair and should be abolished; 14% accept it as normal and 11% were undecided. The poll was conducted between June 21 and July 10 from a sample of 543 doctors.
