Budapest police have apprehended two men accused of attacking and robbing an armored van in the early hours of Tuesday.

Two masked assailants attacked the co-driver of an armored van in District XVIII Monday evening when the van arrived at the premises of a company. Following a brief struggle, the robbers escaped the scene with the Ft 14.5 million forints (€ 57,700) being transported in the vehicle. The driver of the van, who remained in the vehicle during the attack, fired several shots at the fleeing attackers.

One of the robbers was wounded in the leg and eventually checked in at a clinic for surgery, where he was reported to police. The other robber was arrested in Vecsés, near Budapest, Tuesday morning. The money has not been found.
