Police launch further probe into Budapest Gay March violence
Police have launched 16 investigations against those who attacked the Gay Pride March participans, and they are using recordings to identify more suspects, reports origo.hu.
While in some cases there are more suspects, in other cases the perpetrators are still unknown, while one man gave himself up. Prosecutors are currently evaluating and analyzing the recordings, and the number of suspects is continuously growing, the Prosecutor's Office announced.
While the report made public by Prosecutor General Tamás Kovács last Friday mentions 13 investigations and 17 suspects, the number of suspects among the 16 investigations launched so far totals 63.
Seven of the suspects have faced a trial so far. Four of them were sentenced with a fine while three were cleared, creating conflict with rights protection organizations and the ombudsman.
