PM has led Hungary into "moral crisis", says state president
President László Sólyom, speaking this afternoon at the Sándor Palace in Budapest's Castle District, said Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány had led Hungary into a "moral crisis".
What is more, Gyurcsány did not distance himself from his speech and even tried to put the political blame on others, Sólyom added. According to fn.hu, Sólyom expects Gyurcsány to publicly admit that he had been speaking about his party in his speech.
Sólyom also said there was nothing new in the contents of the speech, and stressed that not even good intentions can justify lying to the Hungarian people. He added that the constitution says the government is responsible to Parliament, so the state president has no power to act in this situation.
