Permanent WWI exhibition opens at Budapest Military Museum
Budapest's Institute and Museum of Military History has marked the 90th anniversary of its establishment and the end of WWI by opening a new permanent exhibition on the Great War, reports mult-kor.hu.
The new installation presents events of the war from the viewpoint of soldiers with photos allowing a peek into everyday life on the front line, capturing its misery and also its happy moments.
The exhibition also shows the work of those who helped soldiers, such as the Voluntary Army and the Red Cross, as well as the women, priests and animals who served in the war.
The Museum of Military History is located at the northwestern corner of Buda's Castle District, a location with particular military importance as a 1696 registry of local buildings mentions two barracks on the site.
