Pécs to develop airport to serve budget airlines
Pécs is ready to invest Ft 2 billion to extend the runway of Pécs-Pogány airport by 600 metres from the present 1,500 metres, in order to receive flights operated by low-cost airlines, airport CEO Gyula Ács said. The project is to be completed by 2010, when Pécs will be the Cultural Capital of Europe.
A German tourist agency will run charter flights between Pécs and Stuttgart from April 20, Ács added. The German tourists will mostly visit the nearby Harkány spa.
