Parliamentary committee condemns deadly attack on Roma
Parliament's civil rights, minorities and religious affairs committee on Tuesday condemned the double murder of two Roma in Nagycsécse, eastern Hungary, on Monday. The committee called for immediate action by the investigating authorities.
Socialist MP László Teleki said Roma in Hungary do not have sufficient assurance that they can live in peace.
Police provided no new information on the ongoing investigation into the murders.
A candlelight vigil was staged in memory of the dead at Nagycsécse Monday evening. The National Gypsy Authority promised to repair the burnt out house of the family whose two members were killed.
Another Molotov cocktail was thrown at a house in Debrecen early Tuesday. Roma were the targets of the attack, according to some sources.
