Court executor Ödön Szeyffert on Friday received a 17th-century painting of Johanna Ocskay from the National Museum and returned it to József Schell, a representative of the heirs of the Sigray legacy, after 55 years.

Antal Sigray, a politician known for his anti-German stance between the wars, deposited some of the family assets in various museums before Hungary was occupied by German troops on March 19, 1844. He managed to deposit remaining family assets in five Hungarian museums in the early 1950s.

A further 25 paintings owned by the Sigray family are still in the National Museum.
