Orient Express returns to Budapest twice this September
The Orient Express making a temporary stop on its way to Istanbul.
The famous Venice Simplon-Orient-Express luxury train will be visible at Budapest's Railway History Park on September 8 and 19, according to the park's official site. The park has also opened an exhibition on the history of the 125-year-old train.
The Orient-Express runs between Paris and Istanbul once a year, and one-way between Venice and Budapest, Budapest and Paris, and Budapest and London three times a year, writes origo.hu. Next year, it will be in Budapest in May, June and September.
The exhibition at the railway park is of photos, models and other memorabilia related to the legendary train.
The Orient-Express started running on the Paris, Vienna, Budapest, Bucharest and Giurgiu route in 1883. It retired in 1977 but was revived in 1982. A ticket for the six-day journey between Paris and Istanbul costs €6,580 which includes full board, accommodation at a luxury hotel every other night and various entertainment programs. Next year's tickets are nearly sold out.
