The new attractions - 12 houses, 26 annexes and 5,000 original artifacts - represent the traditional village life of people who lived between the Ipoly and Bodrog rivers in the early 20th century. The buildings are either relocated originals from the region or replicas. Construction on the development began in July 2008 and the new displays were opened to the public on June 26th.
The scientific director of the project, Lajos Kemecsi, noted that Price Charles especially liked a pigsty among the new buildings during his visit in March. The heir to the British throne does carpentry in his free time, the director explained, and was impressed with the woodworking involved.
