Olympic swim champion Ágnes Kovács to retire
Olympic swimming champion Ágnes Kovács announced Tuesday that she will not compete in the Beijing Olympics, but will visit the Chinese capital as guest of honour of the Hungarian Olympic committee.
Kovács explained that she has undergone at least 100 doping tests and all those results proved negative. She added that she should not prepare for the Summer Olympics in her current mental state after doping inspectors accused her of not providing a sufficient urine sample in the autumn.
However, Kovács said she will enter the national championships in the summer and at this point she could not say whether she will retire this year.
