Nyitra girl says witnesses can verify her account of beating
The attorney of Hedvig M. - whose alleged assault has fed tensions between Slovakia and Hungary - claims that passengers of a blue, Hungarian-licensed car could prove that the girl had said the truth about the circumstances of her beating, writes fn.hu
M. told Slovakian daily Új Szó that she had never claimed she was attacked for speaking Hungarian on her mobile phone. She said she remembers giving instructions in Hungarian to two tourists who were traveling in a blue car. "My attackers probably overheard this conversation, and they shouted at me under the bridge, 'Speak Slovak in Slovakia!'" the girl told the paper.
Slovak interior minister Robert Kalinák said the crucial evidence in the case is the DNA sample collected by police which proves that the girl mailed her allegedly stolen valuables to her own address.
