Number of auto accidents drops 7%
The number of road accidents fell by 7 percent in the first half of this year compared to the same period of last year, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said on Thursday.
The number of fatalities dropped by 199 to 406 in the first of this year. Seventy percent of those who died on the roads did not wear their safety belts though 46 percent of them were not to blame for the accident.
Drunk drivers caused 12 percent of all accidents, a drop of 20 percent year on year.
