New Combino tram fails shortly after resuming service
Siemens Combino trams resumed transporting passengers on Budapest's Nagykörút all day yesterday after weeks of inspections, vg.hu writes. One vehicle broke down in the morning, was repaired, then broke down again in the evening. The faulty tram was withdrawn from traffic, Budapest transport company BKV said. Siemens is investigating the cause of the malfunctions.
Besides the six Combinos, Ganz trams are also running on the 4-6 route. The new trams have not been used all day since August 1 in order to be throughly inspected after several failures that mostly involved doors. Earlier, manufacturer Siemens AG admitted that it is a "design fault."
