New assault on motorist by relatives of injured pedestrian
Relatives of an eight-year-old child who was run over and killed in Gyöngyösoroszi (Heves County) on Thursday evening physically assaulted the driver after the accident, reports mti.hu.
The child was taken to a Miskolc hospital by helicopter but could not be saved, said Gyöngyös Police Chief Gábor Kiss. Before police arrived at the scene of the accident, relatives of the child beat the driver, causing minor injuries.
The incident came six months after a similar case in the northeast town of Olaszliszka, in which a motorist who ran into a child was pulled from his car by relatives of the injured youth and beaten to death in front of his daughters.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the Gyöngyösoroszi incident and have begun proceedings against the individuals who assaulted the driver, Kiss added.
