Nationwide 'flu epidemic declared in Hungary
"In the past two days some 50,000 patients have contracted influenza, 1.5 times more than caught the illness in the second half of last year," epidemic combating head at the National Epidemiology Department Ágnes Csohán told Magyar Hírlap on Wednesday. The epidemic is rampant nationwide, with the exception of northern Hungary.
István Szolnoki, head of department at the National Medical Officer's Office, said 200,000 doses of inoculations are stored in pharmacies and family doctors have received 30,000 doses.
