Metro construction debris dumped in Budapest park
Debris and earth originating from the construction sites of Metro 4 have been found in a woodland area, a popular recreation site among locals, in Újpest (District IV), reports Népszabadság. The district filed a report, because the construction waste was illegally dumped there.
The waste was transferred to Újpest by a transport company which works at several Budapest construction sites. The employees admitted to Újpest mayor Tamás Derce that a part of the construction waste is from the Metro 4 works. According to the mayor, the restoration of the area will require more than Ft 100 million (€400,000) which later should be reclaimed from those responsible in a civil suit.
