Man gets two-year jail term for rioting
The Pest Central District Court on Friday gave a 26-month prison term to a man who took part in the September 18 attack on MTV headquarters and assaulted policemen with a weapon. The man remains in jail.
The court sentenced another man to 30 days of public service for attacking an officer in Kossuth tér. The prosecutor appealed for a more severe verdict. A total of 33 people were released from jail and 105 others remain in custody.
The National Police announced that NGOs have begun a public donation drive for those policemen who were injured in the recent riots.
Meanwhile the Hungarian Helsinki Committee and the Hungarian Civil Liberties Union filed complaints to the Prosecutor General's Office on behalf of 16 individuals, questioning the legitimacy of the arrests and alleging police brutality.
Budapest Airport also provides ground handling services to Delta and Alitalia airlines. The company announced in early August that it was in talks with Turkey's Celebi Ground on selling its ground-handling business.
