The German low-cost airline Germanwings will launch a new scheduled flight between Budapest and Hannover in the spring, the airline told MTI on Thursday.

The service will be operated with 26 Airbus A319 aircraft four times a week from April 29, it said.

Germanwings expects to handle on the new route 500,000 passengers this year and 750,000 in 2011.

The airline has been operating services from Budapest to Cologne-Bonn and Stuttgart since 2003 with an average occupancy rate of 80 percent.
