Kosovo Albanians detained for rest area robberies
A court in Szekesfehervar, W Hungary, ordered the pre-trial detention of two Kosovo Albanians suspected of carrying out a series of thefts at motorway parking areas in the country's west, police told MTI on Saturday.
The two men were arrested in an operation which was video recorded by undercover policemen in the parking area at Pakozd at motorway M7 on Thursday, a regional police spokeswoman said.
One of the suspects, 36, is was under house arrest and with four previous criminal convictions, said Monika Nemeth-Kesz. A search in the home of the other, 31-year-old suspect in Budapest and nearby Pecel revealed objects connected to previous thefts, she said.
A police investigation is under way.
