Inner Budapest district proposes evening paid parking
The paid parking period may be extended from 6 until 11 p.m. in certain parts of Terézváros (Budapest's District VI), reports index.hu. The local government has also asked the city assembly to raise parking fees, Deputy Mayor Zoltán Bajor said on Wednesday.
The district asked the Budapest government to change parking regulations to allow the paid parking period to be extended until 11 p.m. in the area bordered by Teréz körút, Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út and Király utca. In addition, it asked for the area to be moved to a higher fee zone.
Bajor said the reason for the decision was that they are trying to get drivers use parking garages by making them cheaper than parking in the street. Residents have also complained about too many cars parked in the area.
The initiative will be discussed by the Budapest assembly later today.
