Independent consumer protector at Hungarian Railways
An independent consumer protection agent is to begin to work at Hungarian State Railways (MÁV), writes inforadio.hu.
The Ministries of Justice and Transportation are working on the legal changes required to introduce this new post. The consumer protection commissioner will be independent from MÁV, and will have a website at www.utasjogok.hu. There is nothing currently displayed on the site as legal problems have put back the introduction of the post from the planned date in September.
The independent passenger protection agent is urgently required as there is currently a huge imbalance between the rights and responsibilities of the company and those of passengers. The new post is intended to improve analysis of complaints, modernize ticket purchasing, increase passenger safety and address issues related to disabled access to trains.
