Undersecretary of sport steps down, weeks before Olympics
Sport undersecretary Gábor Elbert resigned yesterday, effective September 1. Elbert will attend the Olympics as a guest of the International Wrestling Association. "The resignation is fair but not well timed just two and a half weeks before the Beijing Olympics," said Local Government Minister István Gyenesei, who is also in charge of sport affairs.
Elbert's opinions on key issues differed from the newly-appointed Gyenesei from the start, Népszabadság observes.
